Nespelem Celebration

NESPELEM – Hundreds gathered at Nespelem last week to participate in or observe four days of music, dancing, games, food, and commemoration at the Colville Confederated Tribes largest annual celebration from July 7-10.

Steeped in tradition the gathering also served as a memorial and remembrance of tribal members who passed in previous years. Drumming and singing filled the air at both the large, covered outdoor arena and nearby game pavilion that offered entertainment and activities for all comers.

In keeping with current economic challenges gas-gouging drawings gave away $100 prizes to lucky winners to help defray travel expenses.
