Brewster Bears cross country races at Chelan invitational

CHELAN-On Oct. 6 the Chelan Invitational filled the state park with runners and spectators from seven schools, including Brewster, for a course winding through the park.

The invite brought fierce competition with 50 runners competing in the boys varsity 2.4-mile course and 28 girls in their varsity course.

The junior varsity boys and girls races followed the varsity race, with 57 boys and nine girls competing on the same varsity course.

Brewster's Edgar Guzman placed 8th in the varsity race with a time of 13 minutes and 47 seconds, putting himself three seconds ahead of a Cashmere runner.

Ramiro Rincon landed in 20th place with a time of 14:46, followed by his teammate Brady Busching in 21st with a time of 14:47.

Bryan Cuin-Tinoco came in 28th for Brewster, finishing in 15:36, followed by Jesus Castro. Castro took 29th with a time of 15:40.

Bryan Lopez finished in 34th with a time of 15:49, followed by a sprint to the finish from Erick Pamatz with an Entiat runner right at his side.

Pamatz finished 38th, with a time of 16:02, losing to Entiat by one-tenth of a second.

The Bears also traveled to Leavenworth on Oct. 10 for an invitational, placing 15th as a team out of 23.

With the state meet approaching, the Bears put their best foot forward with hopes to be one of the top three teams to qualify for a spot after districts on Oct. 29.
