Brewster Vista Park Apartment Fire

BREWSTER – A multi-alarm fire damaged at least six apartments in the 25-unit Vista Park Homes affordable housing complex at 509 S. Fourth Street in Brewster on Wednesday evening, July 12.

Before the blaze was contained, fire units from Bridgeport, Pateros, Malott, Okanogan, and the Methow Valley joined Douglas Okanogan Fire District 15 teams to keep the flames from spreading to more units in the Vista Park complex.

The fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon and appeared to be contained by 8 p.m. that evening.

Several firefighters suffered from smoke inhalation or exhaustion caused by the heavy smoke and intense heat, but no injuries to any Vista Park occupants were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this writing.
