Funeral services will be Sat., Nov. 29 for a Bridgeport Bar man whose body was found on the hill behind Bridgeport Thursday, Nov. 20. Richard Simpson, 19, apparently committed suicide.
Simpson's family reported him missing on Monday night, Nov. 17, said Douglas County Undersheriff Don Culp. Simpson apparently called his girlfriend on Monday evening and asked her to come outside; when she came out Simpson was not outside but his car was, with the title signed over to his girlfriend. Simpson lived with his parents and they were not at home for a few hours; when they returned they found a will handwritten by Simpson and discovered a gun missing from the residence, Culp said. Deputies searched for Simpson but didn't find him.
A person hunting on the hill behind town found Simpson's body on Thursday, Culp said, near the city's water tower. Deputies also found the missing gun at the scene.
