Bridgeport Chamber sponsors crime prevention forum

Posted
Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce hosted a program about crime prevention and asset protection in the council chambers at Bridgeport City Hall Thursday, Jan. 22.

The guest speaker was Detective Sgt. Dave Helvey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. A number of local business owners and home owners were in attendance as well as a business owner from Pateros. Detective Helvey's presentation included numerous pointers on ways for the businesses to protect and safeguard not only their businesses and assets but also their employees. One of the most interesting pointers was making sure the facility was well lit and that video surveillance cameras are installed to be able to photograph any suspicious individuals. He reminded everyone of the old saying, "a photo is worth a thousand words".

The program appeared to be a great success and Chamber President Charlene Knox announced that plans are in the works for more programs of this type in the future.
