Bridgeport Fillies girls' soccer beat Brewster Bears in overtime

BRIDGEPORT-The Fillies hosted the Brewster Bears in an aggressive game on Oct. 9, going into overtime to defeat the Bears 3-2.

There were several yellow cards in the game.

Kimberly Nila, midfielder/forward for the Bears received the first yellow card of the game for wearing earrings during play.

Denisse Hernandez, forward for Bridgeport received the second yellow card, and Julissa Olvera for the Bears received the third.

Bridgeport scored the first goal of the game, with Alba Robles finding the back of the net.

Brewster's Kylee Vargas evened the score for the Bears, making the it 1-1.

Marlissa Garcia scored for Brewster on a penalty kick after Bridgeport tripped a player, putting the Bears in the lead.

Viridiana Santana tied the game for Bridgeport after a physical second half, putting the game into overtime.

Bridgeport beat the Bears in overtime, successfully beating Brewster for the second time this season.

"Overall it was a good game for us," said Brewster head coach Alex Sanchez. "I think we dominated most of the second half with a few more opportunities to score."

Teresa Nila was in goal for the Bears, finishing the game with five saves.

"We didn't win, but I think the team is on the right path," Sanchez said. "Our passing is getting better, and we are defending better."

The Fillies look forward to a home game against Tonasket on Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m., a team they previously lost 1-7 to in September.

The Bears play an away game against Okanogan on Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. Brewster played Okanogan last month, losing 0-10.
