Celebrate Recovery meetings
Lake Chelan Celebrate Recovery Meets every Thursday at Little Stone Church, 2133 West Woodin Avenue. Dinner is at 6 p.m., cost is $3. Group meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by gender-specific small groups. Celebrate Recovery is a confidential, Biblically-based twelve step program for anyone struggling with addiction, co-dependency, gambling, relationships and other life issues. Contact: 509-860-8108.

Art exhibit in Stehekin
Mountain Medley opens at the Golden West Gallery in Stehekin, on July 18, with a reception, at 7:30- 9 p.m. The exhibit is on display until August 13 with artists Renee' Hudak - Gouache painting and Nancy Barnhart - Photography. The gallery is located in the Golden West Visitor Center in Stehekin and is open daily. Arts and Humanities of Stehekin operates the gallery in conjunction with the House That Jack Built (community craft shop) providing exhibits and programs that promote understanding and appreciation of the North Cascades, through the arts.
Historic Downtown Chelan
First Friday
Historic Downtown Chelan Association will be sponsoring artists, performers, fun and free hands-on activities for kids, on First Friday, August 1, 5-8 p.m. in Historic Downtown Chelan. There will be live music, artists painting, meet the Mayor, munch on an apple from the Hometown Apple Cart, and other fun surprises. For more information call the HDCA office at 682-4322.

Fill the bus
Let's Fill the Bus. Help us fill the bus with school supplies for Manson School District 2014/2015 school year. Look for the bus at First Friday in the parking lot of Coldwell Banker. Also, Saturday at Manson Saturday Farmers Market and Sunday morning at Manson Red Apple Market. All school supplies collected will be distributed by Manson School District. Held at the Chelan Rodeo grounds in Union Valley, the Rodeo offers plenty of excitement for rodeo fans from the opening ceremonies to the final snortin', twistin', buckin' bull ride. 509-470-0360.

Kid's Activity Fun Day
A Kid's Activity Fun Day will be held Saturday, August 2, 1-4 p.m. at the Chelan Church of the Nazarene. Come for all or part and have some fun. There will be games, puppets, face painting, cotton candy, crafts, popcorn, yard games and prizes. All kids (and parents) are welcome. The church is located at 301 E. Okanogan Avenue in Chelan.
Clothing giveaway
Clothing and accessories will be given away on August 2 and 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Riverwalk Closet, located at Chelan Riverwalk Church on the corner of Emerson Street and Okanogan Avenue in Chelan. Clothing etc. is given away the 1st and 3rd Saturdays every month. To donate items call Gilda at 509-433-8080.

The Comedy
of Errors
Short Shakespeareans®, a children's musical production presents The Comedy of Errors, will be held August 7,8,9 and 14,15,16 at 7 p.m. with two matinees August 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. Performances will be held at Riverside Playhouse 233 N. Tickets also available at the door. $12 adults, $10 seniors, $8 kids under 13. This troupe includes talented kids from many of our local communities, Chelan, Leavenworth, East Wenatchee and Wenatchee.

Wenatchee Valley Erratics to meet
Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 12 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission, Wenatchee. Guest speaker will be Dr. Vic Baker, distinguished Professor Emeritus-University of Arizona-Tucson, and Mensch of the Scablands. Dr. Baker will discuss current thinking in Ice Age megaflooding of the northwestern U.S. New tools for age-dating events and computer modeling of ancient flows are transforming our understanding. This talk will be about science in progress and will explore some possible discoveries that lie ahead. Eavesdrop at the top of Big Floods research. The program is free and open to the public.
