Legion pool tourney
American Legion Post 97 hosts its weekly pool tournament each Sunday starting at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There were nine players at the Feb. 17 tournament. Bill Scofield won first place, Brandon Caswell took second place and Tony Cleveland won third.

Hurry on over to the Community Log Church every Wednesday for Bible stories, songs, snacks, games and much more fun! This opportunity is open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grades after school, from 3:15 to 5 p.m. The church is located at 209 S. 4th St.
HOSTS
The Brewster Elementary School HOSTS program is looking for mentors to work with students in reading. HOSTS is an acronym for "Help One Student To Succeed." Kids work one-on-one with a mentor for 45 minutes from Tuesday through Friday. It is a very rewarding program to see the growth in the kids, but the main thing about our program is the lifelong bond that is made between a student and the mentor. Help a local cancer patient
The family of Brittan Schmidt, who has a rare form of brain cancer, has established a fund to help pay for medical expenses as he undergoes treatment. Donations can be dropped off at Sterling Bank and Wells Fargo Bank in Brewster.
Developmental screening
Bridgeport School District Special Services Program provides free developmental screening for all students residing in the district age 3-21. If you suspect your child has a disability please contact Raelynn or Mayra at 686-5656 to schedule a screening.

OCSRA meeting
The Okanogan County School Retirees' Association will meet at 11 a.m. this Friday, Feb. 22, at the Virginia Grainger Elementary School, 1118 5th St. in Okanogan, for a performance by the Virginia Grainger Strings Group. Support the Second Amendment
The National Day of Resistance will be observed locally with a rally in the Omak Feed and Supply parking lot from 12:30 to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 23. The rights of law- abiding citizens are being threatened by the gun laws being proposed. Come and stand united for this principle. Bring flags and homemade signs. This is a peaceful, non-confrontational demonstration in support of the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. This event is sponsored by the Okanogan Valley Tea Party and other interested persons. "Now is the time for all good men/women to come to the aid of their country."
Community Action meeting
The Okanogan County Community Action Council board of directors will hold its regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Community Action, 424 S. 2nd. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. OCCAC is a community building organization. We work with community members of all groups to raise the poor out of poverty, to feed the hungry, to provide affordable housing for all, to empower community members through education, and in the process to return prosperity and hope for the future to our county. Two free seminars will be held in Okanogan County on March 19. The first is Woman-Owned Small Business Certification, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Koala Street Grill in Omak. You'll receive forms and a checklist of items you'll need; a list of requirement guidelines; knowledgable local resources and more. The second seminar is How to do Business with the Federal Government, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Whistlers Restaurant in Tonasket. Topics include market research into what the government buys, and how government agencies advertise their procurements. Hoops for Hope
Registration is open for the third annual Hoops for Hope 3 on 3 basketball tournament. All proceeds will go to The Support Center.
