Senior Center S.A.I.L classes, lunch

BREWSTER – Hours at the Brewster-Pateros-Bridgeport Senior Center are 8 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday; and every other Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations will be accepted during store hours at the back door or just knock or come on in. They take just about everything except children’s clothing. The Center will also take “small pieces of furniture and sometimes larger items. S.A.I.L (Stay Active and Independent for Life) classes are on every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Please check with the Center to confirm this schedule. The Center is hosting Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition (OCTN) meals Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The suggested donation is $4.

Story Time at library
Friday, Saturday story times

BRIDGEPORT - The Washington Reading Corps Program holds two story times at the Bridgeport Public Library. Story Times are Fridays 3:15-4:15 p.m., for Kindergarten through second grade; and most Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. for Kingergarten through fourth graders. Bruce Bjornstad to speak at Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter

WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission. Ice Age megafloods, from at least three different sources, left a dramatic mark on the Pacific Northwest that is clearly visible today. Bruce Bjornstad, will show evidence for dozens of floods from glacial Lakes Missoula and Columbia, as well as Lake Bonneville, via maps, drone videos and other imagery. Bjornstad is a licensed geologist/hydrogeologist and author who specializes in the Ice Age Floods. The program is free and open to the public.

Cancer Support Groups

CHELAN - The Women’s Wellness Group, cancer support group, has two support groups. The second Tuesday of each month for lunch, with lunch provided by the Wenatchee Wellness Place, at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board Room at 11:45 a.m.; and the fourth Wednesday of each month at LaBrisa, at 5 p.m.  For more information, contact Anne at 682-8718.

Brewster area monthly bus trips to

Omak and Wenatchee
BREWSTER - OCTN takes Brewster area residents to Wenatchee for the day, every second Friday of the month. Next trip will be April 13. The bus starts picking folks up at their homes at 7:30 a.m. Riders may request the destination(s); typically, it will be medical appointments, the mall, Walmart, a restaurant and so on. On the third Friday of each month, April 20, riders will be taken to Omak for the day. Again, riders request their destination(s) and make a day of socializing, shopping and errands. Wenatchee: $12/boarding for General Public, $6 suggested donation/day for Seniors (60 plus). Omak: $5.50/General Public, $2.75 su ==ggested donation Seniors (60 plus).Call (509) 826-4391 to reserve your seat.

Kindergarten registration and screening

PATEROS - Kindergarten registration and screening for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Pateros School Library. If you are planning on enrolling your child in kindergarten for the upcoming school year please call the school at 923-2343 ext. 2 to schedule an appointment for you and your child.  To enroll in Kindergarten, your child must not be less than 5 years of age prior to September 1, 2018. Please bring the following items with you: Your child,  and their birth certificate, immunization records and Social Security Card.

Red Cross Blood drive

BREWSTER - An American Cross Blood Drive will be held Thursday, Thurs., April 19, Noon-5  p.m. at the Brewster Boys and Girls Club, 601 Cliff Ave. How to donate blood: Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Cherries Jubilee Logo Contest

BREWSTER - The Brewster Chamber of Commerce is having a logo contest for their 1st Annual Cherries Jubilee.  The winning logo will be featured on the back of their event t-shirt. The contest winner will receive a $25 VISA gift card and ride on the Chamber float in the parade on June 16. Entries are due by April 20. Please send your entry via mail to P. O.
