Senior Center S.A.I.L classes, lunch
BREWSTER – Hours at the Brewster-Pateros-Bridgeport Senior Center are 8 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday; and every other Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations will be accepted during store hours at the back door or just knock or come on in. They take just about everything except children’s clothing. The Center will also take “small pieces of furniture and sometimes larger items. S.A.I.L (Stay Active and Independent for Life) classes are on every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. The Center is hosting Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition (OCTN) meals Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The suggested donation is $4.

Brewster area monthly bus trips to
Omak and Wenatchee
BREWSTER - OCTN takes Brewster area residents to Wenatchee for the day, every second Friday of the month. Next trip will be September 14. The bus starts picking folks up at their homes at 7:30 a.m. Riders may request the destination(s); typically, it will be medical appointments, the mall, Walmart, a restaurant and so on. On the third Friday of each month, August 17, riders will be taken to Omak for the day. Again, riders request their destination(s) and make a day of socializing, shopping and errands. Wenatchee: $12/boarding for General Public, $6 suggested donation/day for Seniors (60 plus). Quilt & Fiber Art Festival
WENATCHEE - The Quilt and Fiber Art Festival will be at Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee on  Friday and Saturday, August 17 & 18, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.  The $7 charge for admission at the door good for both days. The festival will display over 300 traditional, modern and art quilts, dolls and beaded art.  People’s Choice voting is on Friday, awards displayed on Saturday; buy $1 raffle quilt tickets; browse visiting merchants and the Artisan Market.  Bid on silent auction mini wall hanging art with proceeds to benefit the local YWCA.  Enjoy a display of quilts, dolls and afghans by featured Lake Chelan quilter:  Eileen Dvorak.  Visiting Guild is Tri-City Quilter’s. The NCW Quilt Guild is a non-profit organization providing support for area fire victims, hospice, foster children, Chief For a Day participants, Habitat for Humanity, Veterans and many additional local organizations.

Homebuyer’s Education Seminar
scheduled for Brewster Senior Center
BREWSTER – A Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) Homebuyer Education Seminar will be held in Brewster 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 18, at the Brewster Senior Center at 109 S. Bridge Street in Brewster. The workshop is designed to help prospective homebuyers qualify for financial help to purchase a home. Those who successfully complete the upcoming seminar will receive a Certificate of Achievement, good for two years, to help buyers qualify for a variety of affordable housing programs available under WSHFC. Doug Morger, an Eagle Home Mortgage loan officer from Wenatchee will teach the lender portion of the program. Anna Marie Dalbey, managing broker of the Coldwell Banker/Lake Chelan Properties office in Brewster, will be the instructor for the realtor side of the workshop. Revenue offers free tax workshop
EAST WENATCHEE – Business owners in Washington are responsible for knowing which taxes to report. To help them, the Washington State Department of Revenue (Revenue) is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners on Aug. 21, 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Fire District office, 377 Eastmont Avenue in East Wenatchee. Participants will learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. Cancer Support Groups
CHELAN - The Women’s Wellness Group, cancer support group, has two support groups. Red Cross Blood drive
BREWSTER - An American Cross Blood Drive will be held Thursday, August 23,16  p.m. at the Brewster Boys and Girls Club, 601 Cliff Ave. How to donate blood: Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Brewster Class Reunion
The Brewster classes of 1956, 57, 58 and friends of those classes are invited to attend a reunion. It will be held at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club on Saturday, September 8. The address is 1600 Country Club Drive, East Wenatchee. There will be a happy hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. The cost is $45 per person, which includes room rental, dinner and gratuity.
