Calvary Baptist hosts Vacation Bible School

This is our fourth annual vacation bible school. 80 plus kids showed up each day.

This year it was June 24 through 27 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Each year has a different action-packed adventure theme. Next year's event, though the dates are still being determined, will be held in June as well.

This year's VBS motto at Calvary Baptist in Brewster was comprised of a spy theme, "Discover. Decide. Defend."

The motto was adapted from 1 Peter 3:15 which says,

"But honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you."

Trace it back to just the facts! The evidence is clear. The proof is all right here! Come discover, decide, and defend the truth about who Jesus really is at Agency D3.

VBS is for grades k-6th. We split the kids up into three separate groups so they were with their peers and more likely to build friendships and be able to relate to one another. The day starts out with fun music that allows the kids to get silly and energized and then their day is filled with a biblical lesson, a craft and snack that relates to the lesson and then an outdoor adventure and then we close with a quick recap (trivia and discussion) and then one more dance/music session.

We saw a lot of familiar faces from the prior VBS but also had a good number of new fresh faces. The kids all had a busy and fun week filled with information and lots of love from all of the volunteers who came together to make it possible. It's a safe environment.

We already getting ready for another year because that's how much love, planning and prayer goes into this week. We've revealed next years theme will be jungle theme, "This is the way. Walk it."

Parents have came up and told us their kids are so pumped about their experience here that they look forward to it all year. There are daily prizes and trivia to those who want to participate by raising their hand. Bibles, CDs with the VBS soundtrack, themed shirts, hats, sunglasses were some of the prizes passed out this year. We're so excited to see what God is doing here and how many kids we've been able to share this week with. All are welcome. It's proven to be a great place for kids of all ages to hang out and build relationships that may last the summer or much longer.
