Christmas is about a lot of things - babes in mangers, good will and charity, Christmas trees, Christmas carols, giving (even more than getting) presents - and just for the fun of it, it's about Christmas lights.
Pateros residents and business owners are being invited to bring out the lights for Christmas and enter the community lighting contest. The winners will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 17 at the annual town Christmas party, Christmas at the Confluence. The contest is sponsored by the Pateros Chamber of Commerce.
The winners in the residential contest will receive a gift certificate for dinner for two at the Rivers Restaurant at the Pateros Super Stop. Pateros residents will pick the winner; a ballot box has been set up at the Super Stop. To be eligible the house must be in the Pateros city limits.
The merchants contest includes every business in town, as well as the Pateros Public Library, Pateros City Hall and the Pateros Post Office. The winners will receive two tickets to the annual Chamber banquet which is held in the spring. Commercial entries will be judged and the residential contest votes counted Tuesday, Dec. 16.
