Planning group meeting May 1

The Lower Methow Valley Advisory Group will sponsor a meeting to let area residents see the fruits of their planning next Thursday, May 1 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Methow Community Center (the old Methow School). Pizza and beverages will be served from 5 to 5:30 p.m. with the meeting following from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The advisory group members have been gathering information about Okanogan County rules and regulations for development, current and planned development along the lower Methow River Valley, and what people think about it; those efforts have been underway for more than a year. Ultimately all of this information will be submitted to county officials as part of the process to update the county's comprehensive plan. The advisory group has finished its work, and residents can see the result next Thursday. The information must be submitted to the county by mid-May, said Lorah Waters, one of the facilitators. All interested residents are invited.

MANSFIELD

Residents invited to participate in 'Mansfields Around the World'

Residents of every Mansfield in the world-about 30-are being invited to participate in a combination celebration of Mansfield, Ohio's bicentennial and an all-Mansfield party June 21 through 28 in Mansfield, Ohio. This will be the third all-Mansfield gathering; previous ones were held in Mansfield, England in 2000 and Mansfield, Massachusetts in 2004. The "quilt challenge" is part of both celebrations. Residents from all the Mansfields are encouraged to enter a quilt that depicts something-a person, place or thing-unique to their Mansfield.
