American Legion Honor Guard will conduct Memorial Day services

BREWSTER – The Columbia Post 97 American Legion Honor Guard will conduct services at the following locations on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.

9 a.m. - Pateros Cemetery

9:30 a.m. - Bridge Street Bridge wreath presentation

10 a.m. - Packwood Cemetery

11 a.m. - Fort Okanogan Memorial Cemetery – Monse

11:30 a.m. - Locust Grove Cemetery – Brewster

12 noon - Columbia Post 97 headquarters

At 9 a.m., Saturday, May 27, the Honor Guard will participate in a Memorial Service for Army PFC John Timothy Lane and Marine Lance Corporal Marvin E. Galbraith at Locust Grove Cemetery. The service will include the laying of wreaths, presentation of Gold Star pins to surviving family members, and playing of Amazing Grace on bagpipes.  Afterward, a reception with coffee and pastries will be held at the American Legion Hall.

 National Poppy Day May 26

American Legion Auxiliary Columbia Unit 97 will be distributing red poppies in exchange for donations on Friday, May 26, National Poppy Day.  Look for poppy tables at the Triangle Exxon, Brewster Marketplace and the Brewster Post Office. All of the funds raised go directly to help our veterans, military, and their families.
