Film “Return Of The River” To Be Shown In Brewster
Thursday, August 22nd, the documentary film “Return of the River” will be
shown at the Brewster Grange at 6 pm. The Grange is located one mile south
of Brewster on Hwy. 97 at 25905 Hwy. 97. The film documents the political,
historic and economic forces instrumental in the removal of two dams and the
restoration of the Elwha River on the Olympic Peninsula It is a
demonstration of what can happen when dams are removed and natural conditions are returned to a watershed. How the Salmon, the Steelhead, the estuary, the headwaters and the people are all benefiting from the restoration of the Elwha River. The film is offered free to the public and will be followed by
an informed public discussion of the Similkameen River and its potential for
restoration here in Okanogan County. There will be coffee, tea and light
refreshments offered at this public event. Donations are welcome. This film
