Wednesday, Nov. 9 – Brewster School District to honor Veterans
BREWSTER – The Brewster School District will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 9, at 1 p.m. in the Brewster Middle School Gym. Veterans and community members are invited to attend a K-12 assembly to honor veterans of the Armed Forces. There will be gifts for the veterans.
Friday, Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Parade
CHELAN - The Veterans Day Parade, organized by VFW Post #6853, will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. (11th hour/11th Day/11th Month). Bring your flag, be proud, and show your patriotism. Come celebrate with the Veterans at Chelan’s annual Veteran’s Day Parade along Woodin Avenue. The parade will line up on Woodin Avenue by the U.S. Forest Service headquarters, come across the old bridge, go up Woodin Avenue, turn right onto Emerson Street and end at Riverwalk Park..
Friday, Nov. 11 – Community Lunch
CHELAN - After the 11 a.m. Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11, a Community Lunch will follow at Chelan Fire & Rescue, corner of Wapato Avenue and Sanders Street. Chelan District #7 Firefighters Association and Chelan Firefighters Local 4816 will prepare and serve hamburgers and hotdogs. Lunch is free to all Veterans and currently serving military personnel and their immediate families. The public is also invited. A $5 donation is suggested, but not required. All proceeds will be donated to the Chelan VFW Post.
Friday, Nov. 11 – Veterans Day Ceremony
MANSON – The Manson American Legion Post #108 will hold its annual Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., at the American Legion Park, across from the Manson Business Center. Manson Fire Chief Arnold Baker will bring Tower 51, an arial platform truck and raise a large flag above Wapato Way. There will be several short speaches and the Lake Chelan Patriotic Singers will lead those in attendance in song. This is a great event to honor all veterans that have served or are serving in the United States Armed Services.
Saturday, Nov. 12 – Veterans Stand Down
CHELAN - Lake Chelan VFW Post #6853, the Manson American Legion Post #108 and Marine Corps League are sponsoring a Veterans Stand Down, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the VFW Post located at 427 S. Bradley Street. Please bring proof of service, DD-214 or government issue ID card. The concept of Stand Down relates specficially to the homeless veteran crisis. Veterans are provided with a broad range of necessities, including food, clothing, medical, legal and mental health assistance, job counseling and referral, and most importantly, companionship and camaraderie. It is a time for the commiunity to connect with the homeless veteran population. All veterans are encouraged to attend this event.
