Country music competition and fundraiser comes to Pateros

Posted
PATEROS-The Pateros Pride Booster Club will host a dinner and show fundraiser on Nov. 14 featuring Washington Nashville Country Star Competition performers.

Event organizer Erika Varrelman said this is the first year the club is putting on the event, and singers from the Omak country singing competition wanted to bring a show to Pateros.

"We're bringing a dinner to get a full on show and [proceeds] will go to our booster club which pays for our sporting equipment, new uniforms and more. It'll really help out with those things," Varrelman said.

Varrelman said the club started this school year without any money in the account, and this fundraiser is an opportunity to help raise funds while bringing the community together for a fun event.

The dinner is "Indian Tacos and all the fixings" with smaller tacos for the children.

Dinner starts at 4 p.m. with the show following from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"If people come early they can eat in the commons area and then go watch the show, but the point of it is trying to get people to take their dinner to the show," Varrelman said. "They can eat in the gym while they're watching the country performers sing."

The show features five singers from the competition including Audre Belt, Jaimee Keenan, Taleigh Bockmann, Samantha Bennett and Dakota Neuman. Neuman was a performer at last year's Apple Pie Jamboree.

Tickets are available for pre-sale now for $7 for just the dinner or the show, or $12 for both.

Tickets are also available at the door on the day of the event for $8 for the dinner the show, or $14 for both.

The Pateros Chamber of Commerce is also having a day of shopping at the Central Building with local vendors and raffles.

The shopping begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m.

Varrelman said she hoped the shopping event will help bring crowds since the time matches up with the dinner.

Some of the vendors include Younique makeup, Lulu Boutique, Jamberry, Cottage Crafts, and Vivi Jewlery.

Gift wrapping will also be available, as well as $3 Mimosa's for those interested.

As for the fundraiser, Varrelman said anyone is welcome to come out and check out the country performances.

"The singers are great," Varrelman said. "I personally listen to Dakota Neuman, he's awesome and I'm excited to see the other girls perform as well."
