Geology of the Icicle Glacier, topic of meeting

WENATCHEE

Posted
Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission, Wenatchee.

The Icicle Glacier, an alpine glacier in our own backyard, had multiple advances and retreats over the last 100,000 years. It has left both erosional and depositional features that we can easily see in the landscape that tell us a little about its dynamic history. You will learn about the features left behind by an alpine glacier and look at lots of photos of those same features in the Icicle canyon.

Kelsay Stanton is a licensed Washington State professional geologist. She teaches earth science at Wenatchee Valley College, consults on geological hazards, and is vice-president of the Wenatchee Valley Erratics.

The program is free and open to the public.
