BREWSTER – A key defensive fumble recovery combined with just enough late-game offense to give the Bears varsity football team a come-from-behind one-point victory over the visiting Lake Roosevelt Raiders during Homecoming Week last Friday, Sept. 30.

The Raiders ranked 10th in the state 2B football rankings, rode a 13-point advantage into the final quarter of the game before Brewster found the end zone and their first seven points. Then a key recovery of a Raiders’ fumble set up the second Bears’ TD and the extra point a narrow14-13 lead over LHRS. But one point was enough when the Raiders were unable to capitalize on their final possession to regain the lead.

The win gives the 20th ranked Bears some momentum going into their final four conference games through an Oct. 28 meeting with second-ranked Okanogan. Those games include:

• At Oroville Oct. 7

• Manson Oct. 14

• At Tonasket Oct. 21

• Okanogan Oct. 28
