BREWSTER – The Bears’ varsity soccer team dispatched the visiting Chelan Goats of the 1A Caribou Trail League, 4-1, last Saturday, April 5, in a rain-assisted win that gives Brewster a 1-2 record against non-league opponents.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute of the first half and added their second score three minutes later with 17:15 remaining until halftime. Brewster scored twice more with the last goal 28:21 into the second half before Chelan finally got on the board with a goal with 18 minutes remaining in the game.

If early season results are any indicator, the Bears may be headed for a repeat of last season when they battled league rival Bridgeport through league and district showdowns. The Bears are currently tied with Tonasket for second in the Central Washington 2B league with 2-1 records.

Bridgeport, with a 2-0 league record has defeated Manson and Tonasket in early season matches. The Bears lost their match with the Tigers, 6-2, for their only league loss so far.

The Bears were scheduled to host Liberty Bell on Tuesday, April 9, and will face Bridgeport for the first time this season on Thursday, April 11.
