PATEROS – The Billygoats varsity basketball team kept its hold on second place in the Central Washington 1B League with a win over league rival Riverside Christian following an earlier loss to non-league Soap Lake last week.
On the road last Friday, Jan. 19, the varsity boys defeated the Crusaders, 48-33, to improve their league record to 4-1, two games behind leader Moses Lake Christian.
“After a brutal first quarter we were only down two points and were able to make some extra passes and knock down some shots,” said coach Marcus Stennes. “We continued forcing turnovers and getting some transition baskets.”
Led by Ethan Freels with 15 points, three Billygoats scored in double figures including Andrew Gonzalez with 14, and Ethan Wall with 10.
“This was a good league win for us,” Stennes said.
The Nannies lost to the Lady Crusaders, 44-31, to drop to third in the CW1B with a 3-2 league record, one game behind second place RC.
