Billygoats split Oroville, Manson on the road
PATEROS – Junior Ish Mireles had a double-double performance as the Billygoats varsity basketball team led from the opening quarter at Oroville in a 46-39 non-conference win last Thursday, Dec. 8.
“We came out with a strong in the first half both defensively and offensively,” said head coach Marcus Stennes. “Oroville came out in the second half and had a good run scoring 18 points in the third quarter, but we were able to hold on and secure the win.”

Manson wins
It was a different story at Manson last Friday, Dec. 9, as the Trojans took an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never let Pateros stage a come-from-behind rally.
“We struggled shooting the basketball,” said Stennes. “Manson did a good job of pressuring us, forcing us to have 25 turnovers. We were only down 10 going into half but only scoring six points in the third hurt us being down 18 going into the third.”
Stennes said his team will need to do a better job taking care of the ball and getting a shot every possession in the games ahead.
