Brewster Bears track team places second at Oroville Invite

OROVILLE – The Brewster boys varsity track team took second place at the 11-team Oroville Invitational last Saturday, March 17, and the Bridgeport Fillies placed third among a dozen girls teams.
Along the way some strong individual performances from Pateros, Bridgeport, Brewster and Waterville-Mansfield athletes gave the remainder of the field some leaders to chase. One of those was Pateros freshman Anna Williams who sprinted to first place in the women’s 100 meters and finished third in the 200M.
Brewster’s Ernie Nanamkin led the field in the men’s 100 meters and javelin. Nanamkin also earned second in the 400M and long jump.
Miriam Garcia finished first in the women’s 100M hurdles.
Distance specialist Tony Flores of Bridgeport took first in the 3200M and second in the 1600. Teammate Alex Perea cruised to first in the 300M hurdles and third in the 100M hurdles.
The Bridgeport girls with leadoff runner Jasmine LeDuc won both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Waterville-Mansfield’s Alex Poppie won the women’s long jump and teammate Lexi Deishl the pole vault.
