Brewster head football coach reviews returning impact players

BREWSTER – Travis Todd, the new head coach of this year’s Bears varsity football team has some thoughts about the positions where some of his returning players – his impact players - can best contribute to this season’s team based on their past performances.

“Adaih Najera will be carrying most of the role at running back,” said Todd. “Through two games he has over 190 yards rushing and 150 receiving with five total touchdowns.”

“Reese Vassar is playing a new role at quarterback this season,” said Todd. “He is doing a good job in this position and leading the Bears’ offense.”

Backing up Vassar is Brady Wulf who is also playing receiver and defensive back.

“Jose Nila, Nico Maldonado, Cole Aparicio, Jose Nila, and Mario Camacho will be playing receiver on the offensive side of the ball,” said Todd. “While on defense these athletes will be in the secondary.”

Todd said he will be rotating Juan Pamatz, Cort Gebbers, and Zane Madden at tight end and wing positions on offense.

“The offensive line will be led by last seasons All-League Arnie Arevalo,” Todd said.

Clayton Isensee and Eric Ramirez will bring both their athleticism and knowledge to the offensive line, noted Todd and six more Bears, Jason Rosario, Alexis Martinez, Timmy Shomler, Nick Sutherland, Marco Saucedo, and Braiden Westerdahl, will see significant playing time on the offensive line as well.

The Bears opened their season on the road with non-league losses to A league opponents Chelan, 41-12, on Sept. 3; Omak, 54-29, on Sept. 10; and Cascade, 42-22, on Sept. 17.
