Defending CW2B league soccer champs look to repeat this season

Posted

BREWSTER – The Bears varsity boys’ soccer team is ready to take up where it left off  last year on the short end of the District 5/6 championship game against rival Bridgeport, but on the winning side this time.

Brewster opened its season with a 2-1 over Manson on last Thursday, March 21, but could not repeat the win against Okanogan last Saturday, March 23.

The non-league Bulldogs of the 1A Caribou Trail League scored on a long Hail Mary goal just before the end of the first half to take a 1-0 lead over the Bears and that proved to be the only score of the game.

Playing well-matched defenses both teams battled through the second half as Brewster’s goalkeeper stopped several shots on goal to keep Okanogan from scoring again.

The defending Central Washington 2B league champions have the manpower to repeat as league champs again this season with more than 30 young players combined of new faces and returning veterans.

Brewster was scheduled to host Oroville on Tuesday, March 26, followed by Tonasket on Wednesday, March 27. The Bears will meet non-league Cashmere on the road on Thursday, April 4.
