BREWSTER – In an early season, edge-of-the-seat matchup, the Brewster varsity boys basketball team dropped a down-to-the-wire 48-45 decision to Oroville, last Friday, Dec. 7, on the Bears’ home hardwood.

A back-and-forth battle that had the Hornets up 17-9 after the first quarter was tied six times in the first half as both teams entered the locker rooms knotted at 28-all. The Bears were plagued by bouts of poor shooting that combined with a stiff Hornets defense and effective free throw conversions was enough to make the difference down the stretch. Oroville got 11 of its points from 11-14 shooting from the foul line while Brewster had to settle for 4-6.
