BREWSTER – Brewster sophomore baseball player Corey Jarrell has been named a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Athlete of the Week for May 6-12.
In announcing Jarrell’s selection, the WIAA media release noted that “Jarrell hit .636 in the Bears’ District tournament this week. He racked up a double, triple, four stolen bases, and eight RBI. In the finals, he was 4 for 4 with five RBI and two stolen bases.”
Jarrell’s coach, Todd Phillips, called his selection an “honor well deserved.”
Phillips said Jarrell “has been dialed in the past three weeks. Crushed it in district and really stepped up in the championship game to bring the title back home where it belongs.”
Jarrell was a Central Washington B-2B All-League First Team pick in his freshman year and was nominated to the First Team again this year, Phillips said.
