BREWSTER – The Brewster varsity volleyball team brushed by No. 4 Dayton from the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference (EWAC) in three sets, 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16, in the first round of Bi-District 5/6 play at Wenatchee High School Thursday, Oct. 26, to advance to a semi-final showdown against Tri-Cities Prep at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2.

Tri-Cities defeated the CW2B’s No. 3 team, Soap Lake, 3-0, to win the right to face the Lady Bears.

In the other semi-final matches, Walla Walla Valley Academy downed the CWB’s second place Tonasket Tigers, 3-1, to advance against the EWAC’s undefeated league champion, Kittitas. The Coyotes had little trouble handling CWB No. 4 Lake Roosevelt, 3-0, in their first-round win.

Brewster’s trip to Districts was earned by winning every set against CW2B League opponents during the regular season. The Lady Bears combined effective serving with strong defensive digs and overpowering offense at the net to bring a consistent attack to every game.

Brewster’s battle for No. 1 in the CW2B came down to its final game in the regular season when the Lady Bears had to cage the 7-0 Lady Tigers of Tonasket on Oct. 24 to emerge as the only unbeaten team in the CW2B.
