Lady Bears fall to Colfax in sweet 16 round

SPOKANE – The post-season came to an end for the Brewster Lady Bears last Saturday, Feb. 29, after a 58-27 loss to Colfax in the sweet 16 round of loser-out regional competition in the Spokane Arena.
Brewster joined Lake Roosevelt and Waterville-Mansfield who were also eliminated. The Lady Raiders fell to Mossy Rock, 45-39, and the Shockers lost a close 45-40 decision to Northwest Christian.
The Lady Bears defeated Bridgeport, 65-36, and Liberty Bell, 60-53, before losing the Central Washington 2B league championship to Waterville-Mansfield, 48-37. In Bi-District 5/6 competition at Quincy Feb. 22, Brewster defeated Mabton, 47-37, to advance to the regionals in Spokane.
The Lady Bears ended their season with a third-place 12-4 CW2B record and 17-6 overall. They will lose five key players to graduation next June. They include Sammi Emigh, Mikenna and Michaun Kelpman, Kelsey Ochoa, and Cynthia Sanchez.
