Posted

Pateros – The Nannies varsity softball team put up a good fight against visiting Lake Roosevelt last Monday, April 9, but faded down the stretch to give up a 16-6 loss to the Lady Raiders.
The Nannies and Raiders were knotted at 2-2 early in the third inning before Lake Roosevelt’s bats came alive, the Raiders found their range and scored five additional runs in the top of the third.
Pateros responded with three more runs in the bottom of the third to close within two, 5-7, but would only manage one additional score for the remainder of the game.
Pateros came into the game standing in fourth place in the Central Washington 2B league with earlier wins over league rivals Soap Lake and Oroville. Leagues losses so far this season have been against third-place Tonasket and Lake Roosevelt. The Lady Raiders, at 6-1, are second place in the CW2B behind the undefeated Brewster Lady Bears at 8-0.
Head coach John Slater said that his team suffered from a few mental lapses during the game but said that overall, he was pleased with the way they played.
“We’ll get better,” Slater said.
Pateros was scheduled to be at Okanogan to play the Bulldogs’ junior varsity on Tuesday, April 10. The Nannies will play a doubleheader at Bridgeport on Saturday, April 14, and travel to Lake Roosevelt for another game with the Lady Raiders next Tuesday, April 17. The next home game for the Nannies will be against the Okanogan JV on Wednesday, April 18.
