Nannies rank among top three teams in CW1B League

PATEROS – The Nannies varsity basketball team is taking a 1-1 Central Washington 1B League record into the first third of the season with a dominant 68-22 win over Cascade Christian Academy on Wednesday, Dec. 12, followed by a narrow 47-47 home loss to Moses Lake Christian last Friday, Dec. 14.

Led by sophomore and 2017-18 season All-League First Team player Aleeka Miller-Smith, the Nannies are holding their own in third place in the CW1Bwith six games behind them and more than a dozen to go until the end of the season.

Miller-Smith hit five shots from three-point range as part of her team-high 19 points against Cascade. Sophomore teammate Anna Williams added 18 points.

The Nannies notched two wins and two losses in their first four games of the season, getting the best of non-league opponents Soap Lake, 47-43, and Wilber-Creston, 56-23, but losing to Mount Vernon Christian, 54-34, and Liberty Bell, 53-35.

The Nannies were scheduled to play Riverside Christian on the road Tuesday, Dec. 18, and, along with the Billygoats varsity boys, will compete in the two-day North Central Washington Tournament in Entiat Dec. 27-28.
