Pateros lands three on CWB 1B All League basketball teams

PATEROS – A pair of Pateros High School freshmen girls and a sophomore boy were named to this season’s Central Washington B 1B All-League teams in a recent vote by coaches and athletic directors of the seven teams in the CWB 1B.
Freshmen Nannies Aleeka Smith and Jillian Piechalski were among the seven girls selected for All-League honors and sophomore Billygoat Ethan Freels was among six boys nominated.
Smith led the Nannies in scoring this season with an average 15.3 points per game along with 2.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals.
Piechalski averaged 14.4 points per game and an impressive 6.6 rebounds in the 19 games she played. The Nannies finished second in the CWB 1B league and made it into the first round of District competition where they lost to Riverside Christian.
Freels led the league and district champion Billygoats in scoring this season with 13.8 points per game along with 3.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals. He was also an All-League pick in his freshman year. Pateros defeated Riverside Christian for the district title and lost to Naselle in the Regional playoffs. Pateros finished the season with a 15-1 record.
