Pateros soccer girls continue to build on experience

BREWSTER – The new Pateros girls varsity soccer team made good account of itself against the Brewster junior varsity last Thursday, Oct. 4, giving up a close 3-2 loss.

“The game was pretty much level,” said coach Jesse Villalobos. “Both teams got after each other and saw many chances go begging. Both sides missed from the penalty spot.”

Once again Aleeka Smith provided the scoring punch for the Nannies.

Villalobos said Smith connected on a free kick from about 25 yards old for the first Pateros score.

“The ball went over the keepers head and nestled into the back of the net upper left corner,” said Villalobos. “The first half ended 2-1 Brewster and the match ended 3-2. The crowd was into it just as much as the players were.”

The Nannies dropped an earlier game to Liberty Bell, 8-1, on Oct. 2, and fell to Wenatchee C, 6-0, on Sat. Oct. 6.

The Nannies were scheduled to take on Eastmont-C on the road last Tuesday, Oct. 9, and will be at Oroville on Thursday, Oct. 11.
