Pateros takes two in a big way from Wilson Creek

PATEROS – Both at home and on the road, the Pateros Billygoats varsity basketball team took two games from winless Wilson Creek to maintain a firm grip on second place in the Central Washington 1B League behind Moses Lake Christian Academy.
Pateros defeated the Devils 80-18 at home on Tuesday, Jan. 23, and on the road 84-19 on Friday, Jan. 26. In between the WC games a forfeit by Easton scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25, let the Pateros teams take a breather.
“(We) did a good job distributing the ball to the open shooter and were able to knock down shots,” coach Marcus Stennes said of the home stand against WC. Ethan Freels led all scorers with 18 points.
On the road in Devils’ territory Stennes said his team “did a good job forcing 21 turnovers and converting on transition baskets.”
Sam Larsen hit for 26 points and Freels contributed 23. Logan Robinson pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Nannies also got two WC wins in the form of a forfeit of the first game and a 40-31 victory on the Lady Devils home court.

Pateros has four games left in the regular season. The teams were scheduled to play Cascade Christian Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 30, followed by Entiat on the road Thursday, Feb. 1. Pateros will host CCA on Monday, Feb. 5, and Moses Lake Christian the following day, Feb. 6.
