Icicle Creek Trio to perform in Brewster

Posted
Classical music comes to Brewster with the performance of the Icicle Creek Piano Trio, Monday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Columbia Cove Community Center.

Jennifer Caine, violinist, Sally Singer, cellist and Oksana Ezhokina, pianist, make up the trio; they are the resident performance ensemble at the Icicle Creek Music Center in Leavenworth. It was formed in 2002. The performers represent "a meeting of musicians from three different nations," according to a press release issued by the music center.

Ezhokina is from Russia and has won numerous competitions in the U.S and Russia and performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles in both countries. She's a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has studied with a number of well-known teachers. Caine is from the United States and was praised by the Washington Post reviewers as a violinist with "complete mastery over her instrument and a highly developed musical sense." She's a graduate of Harvard University and plays regularly with chamber orchestras in the Seattle area. Singer, from Great Britain, has performed in Vienna, London, Salzburg and New York, both with chamber ensembles and as a cello soloist. Singer too is a graduate of SUNY-Stony Brook.

Chamber music is a popular form for composers; it's been around almost since there was orchestral music and has attracted composers as diverse as Mozart and Prokofiev; Brahms, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Schubert have been among the composers who wrote chamber music.

Tickets are $10 and are on sale at the Quad City Herald office and the community center.
