Lions Club announces 2008-09 officers

Posted
Pedro De La Cerda has been reelected as president of the Lions Club chapter in Brewster for 2008-09. Christine Lucas will be the chapter's vice-president; Sandra Lehrman will continue as secretary and Juana Escobar as treasurer. Officers were chosen at the start of the Lions Club year in July.

Club members are working on a fundraising raffle, with the money going to local Lions Club projects. The drawing will be held in October; tickets and a list of prizes are available from Lions Club members.

The Lions have one general meeting each month, the fourth Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Camperos restaurant in Brewster. The monthly board meeting is held there too, the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

The chapter has some ongoing projects; its members always accept donations of eyeglasses and new or like-new coats, hats and gloves. The glasses are refurbished and distributed free of charge around north central Washington, the state, nation and world. The "Coats for Kids" project is definitely for kids, but also for adults who will need a warm coat when winter arrives. Glasses and coats can be given to any Lions Club member, and coats can be dropped off at Sterling Savings Bank.
