Apple Pie Jamboree cranks up for 2021 festivities

PATEROS – Events are coming together quickly for the 72nd annual Apple Pie Jamboree that is resuming its tradition following the 2020 pandemic hiatus. An annual Pateros event since 1947 the Jamboree missed its 2014 run following the Carlton Complex wildfire. This year’s celebration runs from Friday, July 16, through Sunday, July 18. As of this writing the APJ schedule will include:
Friday, July 16
All Day - Food and craft selections from vendors as they arrive and set up.
5-7 p.m. - Pie and ice cream will be served from 5-7 p.m.
Saturday, July 17
7 a.m. – Color Run of 1K and 5K distances with age divisions for men and women. Winners will receive free entry for next year’s run. Register online at paterosapj.org/online-forms or at 6:30 a.m. on race day.
7 -10 a.m. – Breakfast served in Lakeshore Park.
8 a.m. – 3-on-3 basketball tournament begins.
10:30 a.m. – Parade.
11 a.m. – Jet ski races. The first competition of a 2-day event. Racers from juniors to professionals compete in more than 30 boat classes.
1 p.m. – Kids’ games
5-7 p.m. – KFC dinner served by the Pateros High School Senior Class.
10 p.m. – Fireworks.
Sunday, July 18
All day – Vendors in the park.
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Jet ski race finals
