BBGC hosts membership drive, plans for two May fundraisers

BREWSTER – Boys and Girls Club Director Brian Paine is already busy this year promoting a membership renewal drive and planning for the club’s major fundraiser just months away.
With some 250 members on the BBGC rolls now, Paine is trying to recruit additional participation with a $30 per person drive that started at the beginning of the year.
Also in the works is the first annual Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival being organized by Siren Song Wines in Chelan, the Lake Chelan Chelan Chamber and other winery and business participants.
Siren Song hosted a pre-function Night on the Veranda event prior to last year’s BBGC Golf Tournament and will be doing that again this year, said Paine. What’s new this year is a three-day festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 18-20, leading up to the golf tournament at Gamble Sands Resort on Monday, May 21.
“All net proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club this year,” Paine said.
With the BBGC expanding with a new facility in the Malaga area of Wenatchee, Paine believes that Chelan is a logical site for a Boys and Girls Club of its own sometime down the road.
“They’re ideally located about in the middle of us and Wenatchee,” Pains said. “That’s one community that is on the Boys and Girls Club radar.”
Paine said another project the BBGC is working on is a fiber optics connection so the club can begin having computers available for kids to use.
