“I met with J-U-B (city engineers) and WSDOT (Washington State Department of Transportation) on the Highway 97/Old 97 interchange and I think we are going to move forward with intersection control and evaluation for that intersection,” said Webster. “Also, about Seventh and Highway 97 for intersection control evaluation there.”
Webster said the action was prompted by a review of traffic counts, accidents, safety concerns, and visibility issues.
Last year WSDOT worked with the city to make improvements to the left turn intersection at Highway 97 and Grange Road west of the city limits after traffic study figures showed a higher than typical accident rate at that location.
