Bridgeport artists shine at NCW Regional Art Show

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – Results from the 44th annual NCW Regional Art Show at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center include three Bridgeport students recognized for their work.

“This year, the Regional show did away with placing (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in each category, and instead selected 15 works to advance to the state art show in Olympia along with other works for Honorary Mention” said NBCT Art Instructor Brad Skiff.

In the photography category the competition singled out only three works.

“All three are from Bridgeport students,” said Skiff. “Freddy Parbol’s photo, “Tread” was selected as a Best-In-Show piece and will advance to the state art show in Olympia. Evelyn Jimenez’ work, “Star Ball,” and Jonathan Herrera’s photo, “Presentation” won Honorary Mentions.”

The Regional Art Show is for high schools in the North Central Washington Educational Services District, including Moses Lake, Wenatchee, Cashmere, and Chelan, plus all the smaller schools.

“Bridgeport students have won quite a few times over the years,” Skiff said.

The 50th OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) Superintendent’s Show 50th Anniversary event will be held in Olympia in May (dates TBD) and a digital show will be posted online in April.
