Budrow leads Hawley at the wire for sheriff

OKANOGAN – The latest vote count of Nov. 8 general election results from the website vote.wa.gov shows challenger and former Twisp Police Chief Paul Budrow with a comfortable 675-vote lead over incumbent Anthony Hawley in the race for Okanogan County Sheriff. As of Saturday, Nov. 26, Budrow had 7,754 votes and Hawley 7,079. With certification scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29, Quad readers will already know the outcome and apparent victory by the challenger by the time they see this article.

The race for sheriff was the only close contest when results first began coming in following the close of voting. Earlier vote counts showed Budrow narrowly trailing Hawley first by 23 votes and then only nine as the count continued.

The next closest race was between the candidates competing for the Okanogan County Commissioner District 3 seat vacated by Jim DeTro. Jon R. Neal leads Lloyd E. Caton by 594 votes, 6,904 to 6,310 as of Nov. 26.
