Franz, local fire chiefs to gather and explain ways to mitigate forest fires

Posted
WENATCHEE - A new statewide program, Wildfire Ready Neighbors, will kick off  April 5, 10:30 a.m., at 174 Boodry St., Wenatchee. This initiative will bring together entire communities to take action on homes and properties in high risk counties, Chelan, Okanogan, and Spokane, before wildfire strikes.
The need to get prepared has never been more important. In 2020, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) responded to more than 1,600 wildfires statewide. More than 800,000 acres burned and 298 homes were lost. One of the most devastating seasons on record.
Commissioner Hilary Franz, fire districts and Chelan County community members will show and explain how to mobilize to become more resilient.
