National Night Out coming August 6

Posted

BREWSTER – The Brewster Police Department will join with the community to celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August, which this year is August 6, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brewster Boys & Girls Club at 600 W. Cliff Avenue.

Entering its 36th year, National Night Out is observed in neighborhoods from coast to coast and is designed to inform the public about various police and community programs. Drug prevention initiatives, town watch organizations, or even tips on how to burglar proof your home are just a few of the educational highlights discussed at a typical National Night Out event.

The annual event is described as a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and heightened camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
