Okanogan County Fair, Washington Hometown speakers address Brewster Chamber

Information, advertising discussed

BREWSTER – Okanogan County Fairgrounds Manager Naomi Peasley and Washington Hometown founder Jennifer Hackett.
Peasley has been keeping the fairgrounds busy with activities from rodeos to racing to reunions to renovations, one of the latter of which in 2022 will offer an advertising opportunity for local businesses. Peasley said that repair work to the racetrack barrier on the west side of the track in front of the grandstands will involve replacement of the deteriorating railroad ties with large ecology blocks. Ecology blocks are so named because they are made from repurposed concrete that in the past was discarded or dumped into landfills.
Businesses will be able to purchase metal signs that will be attached to the blocks and will remain there for the lifetime of the wall. The advertising fees will help fund the renovation project and pay for the signs. Email npeasley@co.okanogan./wa.us for details.
It was Hackett’s second visit to the Chamber. On an earlier engagement last May she introduced Washington Hometown and secured Chamber membership in the program. Hackett designed a database that combines scores of information sources about recreation and cultural sites with printable web maps to aid travelers and visitors in their search for places to go and things to do across the state.
“We have gathered information from more than 150 sources, verified it, and added details about each place,” said Hackett on her website washingtonhometown.com. “We offer apps and interactive maps tailored towards specific recreation interests, custom print and interactive maps, and data that can be used by organizations in their own projects.”
The Brewster Chamber is now offering Washington Hometown access to its members.
“We can offer our businesses a membership for their business on the maps for $35 a year,” said Chamber President Mike Mauk. “We are trying to get all of our businesses on this so when people come to our area, they can see what we have to offer. For more information visit washingtonhometown.com/business-info online.
Mauk also reminds readers that the Brewster Independence Day parade will be held on Saturday, July 3, rather than Sunday, July 4.
