Okanogan, Douglas county property taxes coming due

Posted

OKANOGAN – While the treasurers’ offices in Okanogan and Douglas counties are closed to public access in accordance with COVID-19 mandates, first half property taxes, and irrigation and communication district assessments remain due and must be postmarked by their April 30 deadline. Interest and penalties will start accruing on Friday, May 1, 2020.

Okanogan County is not a large County in revenue resources and for that reason there are too many districts that rely on levied taxes to survive such as hospitals, schools, fire districts to name just a few,” wrote Okanogan County Treasurer Leah McCormack in a media release.

The Okanogan County Treasurer’s Office closed effective March 18, and Douglas County followed suit on March 19.
