Pateros City Council approved six-year Transportation Improvement Plan

PATEROS – City Council members dispensed with an agenda of  committee reports, five resolutions, three business items and a public hearing is less than an hour during their regular monthly meeting last Monday, June 18.
In the absence of any citizen comment on the public hearing concerning the city’s six-year Transportation Improvement Program for years 2019 through 2024, council unanimously approved the resolution to adopt the plan.
Council members voted to surplus a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup and authorized Clerk/Treasurer Kerri Wilson to advertise the vehicle for bid. The city purchased a newer pickup last year to replace the well-used Ranger.
Council members voted to award the contract for construction of well house No. 3 to General Industries of Spokane the lowest of five bidders for the project at $758,034.05.
A resolution to amend the engineering services contract with Varela & Associates of Spokane to add the city’s well house No. 4, not included in the original agreement, received unanimous council approval. Ben Varela of Varela & Associates briefly addressed the council regarding the services adjustment.
Subsequent to attendance by City Administrator Jord Wilson and Clerk/Treasurer Kerri Wilson at training on Financial Policies and Internal Controls, council members approved the update the internal control and financial policies for the City of Pateros.
In other business council members approved an offer to purchase a small piece of property to clear up a boundary line along Ives Street.
Council members approved a proposal for Apollo Solutions Group to perform an Investment Grade Audit required for the city to qualify for an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) through the state’s Department of Enterprise Services. The cost of the audit is $24,631 and will be incorporated into the ESPC grant if the city’s application is accepted. If no grant is awarded there is no cost for the audit. The only way the City would be liable for the cost would result if the City decides not to pursue the grant after the audit is complete.
City Administrator Jord Wilson reported that Tapani has completed rock work and installed sand on the new beach at the city tennis courts. The beach is designed to be an access point for hand-launched water craft like kayaks and canoes.
Delays continue to plague the Douglas County PUD in its efforts to complete the dock building project along Memorial Park. Wilson said the PUD is working to get the project completed in anticipation of the high summer use and upcoming city events.
Each tent and RV site at Ives Landing Park now has its own picnic table.
The new water reservoir adjacent to the cemetery is on schedule for an early July completion.
