Pateros City Council special session addresses bid award, records grant

Posted

PATEROS – The city council met in special session at 7 a.m. Monday, May 28, to address several issues of a timely  nature.
Council members approved Ordinance 762, a non-exclusive Franchise Agreement with Pateros CA, LLC, that operates controlled atmosphere facilities, for the location of pipelines transporting hazardous liquid on certain city owned rights-of-way and authorized Mayor Carlene Anders to execute said agreement.
Council members awarded General Industries of Spokane the contract to construct well house No. 3, after the contractor submitted the lowest of five bids for the project.
General Industries bid $758,034.05, that was $5,000 below the next lowest bid of $763,903.97 tendered by POW Contracting, Inc., of Pasco. The range of bids was between a high of $919,667.54 and General’s quote.
Council members approved a $4,000 grant from the State Auditor’s Office (SAO) to organize the city’s records room. The grant will allow the city to review all its records, archive those that warrant retention and destroy those that have passed the retention date. The records update will help the city with public records requests and decrease liability issues.
In other business, city engineering consultant Ben Varela of Varela & Associates of Spokane, gave council members an update on the city’s ongoing water project.
Council also scheduled a public information meeting regarding the design and construction of well house No. 4 to coincide with its regular monthly meeting on July 16. The informational meeting will be held at 5 p.m., one hour before the regular council meeting convenes at 6 p.m.
