PATEROS – City Administrator Jord Wilson delivered the city’s annual parks report at the regular monthly meeting of the city council last February and it included a long list of improvements and additions. Wilson is a Certified Arborist and holds Masters in Liberal Arts (MLA) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degrees.
Memorial Park
● Planted seven memorial trees.
● Installed a security camera.
● Trail light electrical repairs.
Pateros Mall Plaza
● New tables and chairs for outdoor dining.
● Nine new trash receptacles.
● Electrical repairs.
Peninsula Park
● Removed beaver-damaged ash tree and added protective barriers to other trees.
● Installed security camera.
● Installed restroom light shield.
● Pruned trees.
● Repaired sump pump.
● Repaired irrigation controller.
Ives Landing
● Planted Ginko tree for Arbor Day.
● replaced two frost-free hydrants.
● Installed security camera.
● Removed weed species trees.
● Shower fixture replacements.
● Reviewed trail extension.
Tennis courts (Riverside Drive recreation access site)
● Repaired court cracks.
● Installed security camera and light.
● Repaired and replaced court lights.
Methow Boat Launch
● Repaired restroom and trail vandalism.
● Replaced vandalized bollard trail light.
● Security improvements: lights, camera, tree removal.
Riverview Pavilion (downtown pump station #4)
● Addition to holiday light display.
● Purchased electrical cord and boxes for public events.
● Purchased push lawnmower.
The city also removed the juniper bushes in the open space along the west side State Route 97 after a small brush fire ignited in that area last summer.
Along the way the city received some acknowledgements for its efforts Wilson said. Those included a Tree City USA award, Most Improved recognition from the Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) for the city’s proactive risk management actions, and a $5,000 RMSA grant for security cameras.
Pateros also installed an online park reservation system complete with online payment options for facility, tent, and RV reservations.
