Pateros School Board authorizes capital levy draft

PATEROS – The school board held a special meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 16, to consider the authorization to draft a resolution for a capital levy.

Board member Marc Armstrong proposed that the board draft a resolution for a two-year capital levy of one dollar ($1) per thousand of real estate property valuation. Board member Charles Miller seconded the motion.

A meeting recap provided by the school board said that the levy will be used for making health and safety improvements at elementary learning areas including, but not limited to: 1) constructing a covered play area; 2) renovating second floor auxiliary gymnasium for recess during inclement weather; 3) Adding a disability access ramp to the music room; 4) making other health and safety improvements as determined necessary and advisable by the board. 

The motion was unanimously approved.
