PATEROS – The Board of Directors of the Pateros School District announced the hiring of a new school superintendent to replace Lois Davies who resigned her position effective June 30.
Goodnight graduated Washington State University with his Bachelor of Science degree and received his Master’s in Administration from Gonzaga University. Goodnight also received his Superintendent Certificate from WSU.
Goodnight was the principal OF Selkirk Middle and High School in Ione, Wash., for the past three years. Prior to that position he was the superintendent and a teacher for the Kettle Falls School District for eight years.
Davies tendered he resignation to the school district on March 28 after serving as superintendent for 10 years. With a background as both an academic and administration coach, Davies, a past president of the Washington Association of School Administrators,  intends to pursue her interests in leadership and research. One of the projects Davies will engage is a guidebook for schools that have experienced disasters like the 2014 Carlton Complex wildfire that disrupted the Pateros school system when 25 percent of the city’s residences were lost.
The school district enlisted help from the North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) to fill the superintendent’s position. NCESD acts as a resource for the 29 districts within the Okanogan-Chelan-Douglas-Grant county area.
